Golf in Belgium is far more accessible than its reputation suggests. Both Golf Vlaanderen and the Walloon federation AFGolf run beginner programmes, and many clubs organise their own initiation sessions where you can try the sport before committing to anything.
A typical start-to-golf trajectory looks like this: a first taster session (often in a group), a series of lessons with a golf pro covering the long game, short game and putting, and finally a practical exam that gives you your first handicap so you can play on the course. Most people go from zero to playing their first nine holes within a season.

Start to Golf is the common name for beginner programmes run by Belgian golf federations and clubs. Over a few sessions you learn the basic swing, putting and etiquette — equipment is usually provided.
